Queensland government funding for heat pump and solar hot water systems

If you've been thinking about upgrading upgrading your hot water system to an eco-friendly and efficient heat pump hot water systems or maybe a rooftop solar hot water system, there's never been a better time to act now.

The Queensland government has announced rebates of up to $1000 in the Climate Smart Energy Savers.
To get the full rebate amount you must be from a lower income household but at the minimum everyone is eligible to receive at least $800 off either a heat pump, hot water system or a solar hot water system.
There was a limited pool of money the program so it's first in, first served to get the rebate.

A couple of other fine detail points for the program include that you:
- have the system professionally installed
- is a replacement for an existing inefficient hot water system

There are other criteria so be informed.

Why are heat pump water systems more efficient?
We have covered this subject in detail recently. Simply put a heat pump hot water system takes heat from the environment, the
surrounding air, and transfers that into the water. As it is not using a high resistance electrical heating coil, it is much more efficient than a traditional cylinder hot water system.

Why are solar hot water systems more efficient?
Solar hot water systems circulate the water to a heating panel system on your roof where the sun's rays heats the water which is then stored in bulk and provided to your household. These systems typically have an electrical booster heater, but for the most part, the hot water is generated by the sun for free.
