Wivenhoe dam levels dropping

At Aptus Plumbing and Gas we keep a bit of an eye on the weather as we know that this influences how busy we will be and the types of work we might be doing in the months to come. It's part of running a good business and looking out for clients.
We recently wrote about La Niña being a likely influence over the next period of weather in Australia. This means drier conditions and a hotter summer than usual... and this might persist well into next year, as El Niño overlays the seasons.
What it means for us, and we have seen it before, that our customers might be calling upon us for water saving upgrades to their home. The likes of water tanks, water saving toilets and tap flow restrictors might be called for in the next 6 - 12 months... and maybe this is something you should be planning for as well. This applies equally should it be your own home or an investment property.
Brisbane and south east Queensland dam levels are dropping
Anyone who's lived in Brisbane for some time can recall times where Brisbane's water supply has dropped to levels where water restrictions are put in place. In the most extreme cases, in the not too distant past watering gardens and car washing are restrictions that were in force.
Wivenhoe dam level
While we don't want to be alarmist, the Wivenhoe dam is currently 68.9 % full at the time of writing. That's a whopping 803000 mega litres and there are other dams in the South East Queensland "water grid". That seems like a lot, but the previous dry in 2019 saw dam levels drop by 14% all the way down to 57% in just 10 months. That's when we all start calling out for rain.
Chances are that we will be fine, but to be prudent, in coming weeks we will be looking at the range of ways to save water. Keep in mind that at any time all your plumbing and gas problems, questions and concerns can be brought to us with a phone call or website enquiry.
Good afternoon!
